On learning more we realised what a good fit Red Deer are with the climate, land type and grass growth curve at Pirntaton. We were very lucky to secure drafts of hinds from the very successful “Strathdon” herd for the following 3 years and with the inclusion of our first home-bred yearling hinds rutted 320 in the autumn of 2019.

With such high quality foundation stock and the use of Sire Stags from top herds such as Woburn, Strathdon and Annan Water we are delighted with the performance of our deer so far. Our first crop of yearling stags was processed on contract for Waitrose at Dovecote Park in early October and averaged 72.5kg CW.

With the deer farming sector at an incredibly exciting point, we are keen to be as involved as possible and have stored DNA samples and recorded weights from all our deer in the hope of helping kick start a performance recording database. Sire stags and yearling hinds will be available for sale from 2020.
