At Pirntaton our business strategy is very simple. Commitment to a pastoral system and focusing on reducing cost of production, by trying to best fit feed supply and demand, whilst driving an increase in output per hectare. This approach has seen our output increase from 293kgLW/ha in 2015 to over 550kgLW/ha in 2019. Sub-division and rotational grazing have allowed us to increase our ewe flock by around 500 ewes, as well as adding the Red Deer herd, which now numbers over 300 hinds. This has been achieved whilst reducing reliance of bought-in compound feed, from a high of 380 tons in 2012 to a low of 90 tons in 2017.
